NORMAN, Oklahoma – The OU baseball team blew out Arkansas-Pine Bluff for the second consecutive night with a 16-1 victory Wednesday.
The Sooners (22-3) scored in every inning but one and connected on a total of three home runs. Cameron Seitzer, fresh off hitting for the cycle Tuesday, connected on another home run and drove in four runs to lead the way for OU.
Cody Reine blasted a three-run homer in his only at-bat of the game, and Max White added another long ball. The Sooners finished with 13 base hits, contributed by 11 different players. Seitzer and Eric Ross were the only two OU players to connect on more than one base hit, and seven different Sooners finished with at least one RBI.
Five OU pitchers combined to shut out UAPB through the first eight innings, but Barry McDonley ended that with a solo home run in the ninth.
The Golden Lions (3-14) continued to have pitching and defensive woes. For the second game in a row, they committed three errors and gave up unearned runs. Their pitchers also walked eight batters and hit another.
The Sooners won both games of their midweek series against UAPB by a combined score of 39-4. They have now won 17 of their last 19 games and will go back to Big 12 play when they host No. 7 Texas in a three-game series starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
