STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- The Oklahoma State Cowboys took on both Missouri State and Wright State on Friday, and won both games 8-2 and 8-7 respectively.
In the first game of the night against Missouri State, OSU did most of its damage in the fourth and sixth innings, scoring seven of its eight runs in those two innings.
In the fourth inning, Dane Phillips hit a two-run home run to put the Cowboys’ first two runs on the board. OSU followed that with three singles, including an RBI single by Josh Botts to bring Luis Uribe home.
The sixth inning brought another two-run home run, this time by Davis Duren to extend the Cowboy lead to 6-1. Mark Ginther followed that with an RBI single to give the Cowboys a 7-1 lead. OSU added one more unearned run in the seventh to take an 8-1 lead over Missouri State.
The contest against Wright State was closer, and the Cowboys needed a three-run eighth inning to claim the win over the Raiders.
Starting pitcher Thomas Keeling pitched four scoreless in his 7.1 innings pitched, while giving up six earned runs.
Oklahoma State struck first, scoring two runs in the third inning with a Kevin David two-run home run to take a 2-0 lead.
Tristan Moore started the fifth inning with a solo home run to put the Raiders on the board and cut the lead in half. Quentin Cate scored on a Ryan Ashe sacrifice bunt to tie the game at two. Wright State took the lead in the seventh inning with a Cate solo home run to left field.
The Cowboys answered with three runs in the seventh. Uribe scored on a throwing error, while Duren hit a two-run home run to retake the lead.
Wright State retook the lead in the eighth inning on a Moore two-run single and a Cate two-run triple to take a 7-5 lead.
OSU scored three more in the bottom of the eighth to reclaim the lead, two of which came on Raider mistakes. Ginther scored on a throwing error, while Phillips crossed home on a Greg Robinson balk. Green came home for the go-ahead score on a Duren sacrifice fly.
Oklahoma State is back in action Sunday against the same two squads, weather permitting.
