NORMAN, Oklahoma -- University of Oklahoma women’s basketball coach Sherri Coale was named one of 10 finalists for the Kay Yow Award.
The inaugural award will be given to the coach that best exemplifies great character on and off the court.
Geno Auriemma of Connecticut and Pat Summitt of Tennessee were also named finalists.
Yow, who died in 2009, led N.C. State to 737 victories in her coaching career and also coached the United States women’s national team to a gold medal in the 1988 Olympics.
A panel 26 members will vote for the winner, who will be presented with the award during the NCAA Women’s Final Four in San Antonio.
