TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa defeated Nebraska 4-1 and lost to North Dakota 2-1 to split its doubleheader Saturday.
Golden Hurricane pitcher Jackie Lawrence allowed just one run against the Huskers. TU (9-9) scored three runs in the fourth inning to take a 3-1 and added another in the fifth. Lawrence earned the victory and improved to 3-4 on the season. Nebraska dropped to 10-9 overall, and starter Ashley Hagemann (3-5) picked up the loss.
Tulsa was not as lucky in the first game of the day falling 2-1 to North Dakota in eight innings.
The Fighting Sioux homered in the top of the fifth inning to go up 1-0. Lauren Lindsay’s solo shot tied game the bottom of the sixth.
In the eighth inning, North Dakota’s Toni Schutte reached on an error. According to international tie breaker rules, a runner was placed on second. The runner on second scored later in the inning and the Hurricane did not score in the bottom half.
Lauren Lindsay went two-for three. Kalynn Schrock (4-3) picked up the loss for Tulsa.
The Golden Hurricane will face both foes again Sunday with an 11 a.m. against North Dakota and an 1 p.m. game against Nebraska.
