LUBBOCK, Texas -- Oklahoma State survived an early second half scoring flurry by the Red Raiders to claim their second-straight win 80-70.
The Cowgirls started the game with two quick jumpers to take a 4-0 lead, but Texas Tech’s Jordan Barncastle knocked down a 3-pointer on the next possession to cut the lead to one. Three minutes later the Red Raiders scored a quick five points to close the lead to two.
However, OSU’s offense could not be kept silent and Andrea Riley responded with a long 3-point shot to push the lead back to five.
Late in the first half, Texas Tech hit a nearly three-minute scoring drought to allow Oklahoma State to build a lead. Tegan Cunningham scored five points of a Cowgirls 6-0 run to expand the lead to 37-30. OSU went into halftime with a 39-36 lead.
The Red Raiders came out of halftime hot, going on an 8-2 run to take a 44-41 lead less than three minutes into the half, their first of the game. Halfway through the half, Riley scored six straight to reclaim the lead 54-53. That started an 11-3 run for the Cowgirls, who took control of the game.
Riley finished the game with 21 points and 11 assists, Cunningham scored 20 and grabbed eight boards while Toni Young contributed 19 points and nine rebounds.
Oklahoma State is back in action Wednesday in Stillwater against Iowa State.
