Tulsa Softball Takes Two

The Golden Hurricane did not allow a run in 14 innings.

TULSA, Oklahoma -- Lauren Lindsay and Samantha Cobb combined to drive in seven of Tulsa’s 10 runs, while pitchers Jackie Lawrence and Kalynn Schrock tossed shutouts as The University of Tulsa softball team picked up two wins at the Tulsa Embassy Suites Invitational.

The Golden Hurricane (5-7) defeated South Dakota State, 3-0, and UMKC, 7-0, on Friday.

Lindsay went 3-for-6 in the two games with four RBI’s. Cobb was 4-for-8 with a home run and three RBI’s. Lawrence (1-3) and Schrock (3-2) combined to allow just seven hits and five walks, while striking out 20 opposing batters.

The Golden Hurricane returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. against Texas State.

Tulsa 3, South Dakota State 0

Lauren Lindsay went 3-for-4 with two RBI’s to lead the Golden Hurricane to a 3-0 win over South Dakota State (3-8). Lawrence pitched a complete-game shutout to earn her first win of the season.

Lawrence allowed just four hits and two walks while striking out 11 batters in the game. Tulsa scored three runs on seven hits, and SDSU had four hits and two errors.

Tulsa 7, UMKC 0

Samantha Cobb hit a three-run homer to power the Golden Hurricane to a 7-0 win over UMKC (2-8). Caitlin Everett and Cassidy Bowen each got two hits while Lauren Lindsay drove in two runs. Freshman Kalynn Schrock (3-2) pitched a three-hit shutout to earn the win. She walked just three batters and struck out nine.

Tulsa scored seven runs on nine hits, while UMKC earned three hits and committed one error.
