TULSA, Oklahoma – The Oral Roberts men used a massive first-half run to build an insurmountable lead on the way to a 76-56 victory over Centenary in ORU’s final home game of the regular season Tuesday.
The Golden Eagles (16-12, 11-5) and Gents (8-19, 3-13) went back and forth at the beginning of the game, and at one point Centenary held a 21-17 lead. But ORU responded by finishing the half on a 28-7 run and held a 17-point lead at halftime. The Gents never got close again.
Oral Roberts started the second half on another big run and built a lead of as much as 34 points. Centenary managed to go on a small run of its own, but it was too late to make any difference.
The Golden Eagles were led by a three-pronged attack from Kevin Ford, Warren Niles and Dominique Morrison. Ford finished with 21, Niles with 17 and Morrison with 16; the three of them nearly outscored the entire Centenary team.
Daman Starring led the Gents with 13 points, and Maxx Nakwaasah added 11. However, Starring and Nakwaasah combined to shoot just 8-of-25.
The Golden Eagles have now won two games in a row and will finish the season on a three-game road trip. They will face Austin Peay at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
