TULSA, Oklahoma --The Oral Roberts women’s basketball team dominated the Western Illinois Leathernecks 82-52 two days after one of the most dominant performances in school history, a 71-point win over IUPUI.
Despite poor shooting by most of the starting five, the Golden Eagles were fairly accurate from the field, hitting on 41.5 percent of their shots from the floor, including a 7-of-8 performance from Jordan Pyle. Pyle recorded a double-double with her 14 points and 10 rebounds, but Kevi Luper led ORU offensively.
Luper hit 7-of-13 from the floor, 3-of-5 from 3-point range and was a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line, on her way to a game leading 25 points. She also grabbed six steals in the contest against the Leathernecks.
Western Illinois was inefficient in most aspects of the game, shooting 20-of-59 from the floor, 7-of-28 from behind the arc and 5-of-9 from the free throw line.
In addition to poor shooting, the Leathernecks turned the ball over 23 times, including nine by their two starting forwards and five from the two guards that started the game.
Oral Roberts is back in action Sat. Feb. 20 in Tulsa against Centenary in Tulsa.
