NORMAN, Oklahoma – Tony Crocker had a new career high in points by halftime and scored a total of 33 to help the OU men’s basketball team cruise to an 86-62 victory over Centenary Wednesday.
Crocker scored the first 16 points of the game for OU (6-3) and a total of 29 points in the first half, more than the entire Centenary (4-4) team scored in the half. Five minutes into the game, Crocker had outscored Centenary 13-0 by himself.
Crocker and OU in general eventually cooled off on the offensive end, and the Sooners carried a 47-25 lead into halftime. The OU offense stayed cold as the second half began and Centenary was able to close its deficit, but the Sooners’ lead was insurmountable.
Crocker only scored four points in the second half, but Tiny Gallon stepped up to lead the offensive charge. Gallon finished with 16 points and was the only Sooner besides Crocker to score in double digits.
The Sooners made more than 46 percent of their shots and made a total of 10 3-pointers, including seven by Crocker.
The Sooners have now won their last four games after suffering through a three-game losing streak. They appear to be back on the right track with five games remaining before beginning Big 12 competition against Baylor.
