TULSA, Oklahoma -- Former Tulsa Mayor Jim Hewgley Jr. died Tuesday morning. Hewgley was an oilman who served from 1966 to 1970.
During his tenure, the Port of Catoosa was established, along with Tulsa Transit and the Tulsa Housing Authority.
Hewgley was the city's oldest surviving ex-mayor. He was 94 years old.

Hewgley also established the office of Equal Economic Opportunity assuring non-discrimination in employment practices and the Model Cities program.
His son, Jim, was one of Tulsa's last Streets Commissioner before the city changed its form of government to a mayor/city council arrangement.
The Tulsa City Council will honor Hewgley at the council meeting scheduled for Thursday.
