SAPULPA, Oklahoma -- A Sapulpa school that's been around since before statehood is closings its doors.
Current and former students from Washington Elementary are sending it out in style. Kids from each of the classes sang, danced and recited poetry at a program Friday.
Even a principal from the 1970's stopped by to reminisce.
"You know, progress comes and you have to make way, but this building is here to stay. They start trying to tear it down, they'll have to get the wrecking ball I'll guarantee you," Everett McCullogh, a former principal, said.
School leaders organized the celebration to recognize 108 years of service to the community. The school will merge with another school.
