Tulsa Red Cross Volunteers Deploy To Storm Ravaged Mississippi Or Alabama

TULSA, Oklahoma -- One person flew out Thursday, and two teams of volunteers from the Tulsa Area Chapter of the American Red Cross will deploy Friday morning to assist with Red Cross tornado relief efforts.

While their exact destination remains to be determined, officials in Tulsa say they will assist with tornado relief operations in Alabama and/or Mississippi.

The Tulsa chapter's Emergency Response vehicles will be put into service for the relief operation and the volunteer teams consisting of John and Berenice Johnson, Janis Evans and John Smith will drive the vehicles to the affected areas.

The vehicles are traditionally used to deliver meals or supplies to residents in hard hit areas.
