TAHLEQUAH, Oklahoma -- A Cherokee County couple is in jail after the wife came home and found her husband in what investigators call a "compromising" situation with the couple's 16-year-old adopted daughter.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office began an investigation after deputies got a report of a domestic disturbance at the home of Stacey and Terry Begay south of Tahlequah.
Deputies say 45-year-old Terry Begay fired a handgun at her husband and daughter during an argument in the home.
Begay told deputies that when she got home she heard laughter from her daughter's bedroom. They say she opened the door and found her daughter in bed wearing only a shirt. She told deputies her husband, 46-year-old Stacey Begay, was hiding behind the door.
Deputies determined Terry Begay had fired five shots but none of them hit anyone.
Stacey Begay admitted to a Cherokee County investigator he had been having sex with his daughter since December, 2010.
The couple adopted the daughter when she was 12 years old.
Deputies arrested both Terry and Stacey Begay and took them to the Cherokee County jail, Terry on two complaints of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and Stacey on a complaint of sexual child abuse.
Terry posted bond and has been released from jail, Stacey remains in jail.
The daughter was taken into protective custody and turned over to the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.
