TULSA, Oklahoma -- A 20-year-old man is dead after a fiery crash in southeast Tulsa early Saturday.

It happened on 51st Street at Highway 169 just after 1:30 a.m.

Police say they were leaving a call when they spotted a man traveling eastbound on 51st Street at speeds nearing 100 mph

Before they could engage in a pursuit, the driver lost control and flipped his Ford Pickup under the Highway 169 overpass. The truck took out a railroad crossing gate before bursting into flames.

Police tried to extinguish the fire but couldn't fight back the flames. The man was eventually pulled from the burning vehicle and transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Union Pacific was on scene to make sure there was no damage to the tracks. Crews will likely be in the area for the next couple of days repairing damaged equipment.
