TULSA, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma's own raised close to a million dollars in downtown Tulsa Thursday night in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.
News On 6 anchor Terry Hood is the media chair for this year's Memory Gala, one of the biggest Alzheimer's fundraiser's in the nation.
This year's guest speaker is CBS News correspondent Barry Petersen, whose wife was diagnosed in her early 50's.
Petersen said covering wars, the Asian tsunami and the massacre in Rwanda never prepared him for the stress and heartbreak of Alzheimer's.
"One of the most dangerous jobs in the world is to be a caregiver for a person with Alzheimer's," he said " The statistics are clear. The caregiver normally dies before the person with the disease."
News On 6 will have more of Terry's interview with Barry Petersen Friday on the News at 10 p.m.
