TULSA COUNTY – A Hominy man was indicted on a murder charge in federal court Wednesday for the shooting death of an Indian man on Indian land earlier this year, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office in Tulsa.
Steven Keeling, 48, is charged in the death of Ed Brown. Brown, 59, was killed outside his home near Leonard on January 17, 2011. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, the property is located on "restricted Indian allotment."
If found guilty, Keeling could face life in prison.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said Keeling is also charged in Tulsa County with shooting with intent to kill, murder, and possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony.
A woman was critically injured in the shooting.
Keeling was arrested January 21, 2011, after he was caught hiding under a bed in a Muldrow hotel.
