MUSKOGEE, Oklahoma -- Prosecutors charged a Muskogee man Monday with first degree murder in the death of his wife 12 years ago.

The Muskogee County Sheriff's Office said Jeff Grannon confessed to the murdering Carol Grannon, who disappeared in 1999.

Investigators discovered Carol's remains under a manhole in a Muskogee alley last Thursday, February 24, 2011. Jeff Grannon's son led police to her remains after he was arrested on drug charges.

Jeff Grannon is being held without bond.
