TULSA, Oklahoma -- At least one person was left homeless after a fire destroyed a unit at a south Tulsa apartment complex Tuesday.
Tulsa fire crews were called out to the Riverbend Apartments near 83rd and Lewis around 12:30 p.m.
When crews arrived, they found a kitchen in one of the units fully engulfed. Firefighters were able to contain the bigger flames to the one unit and had the fire out quickly.
Firefighters say one unit was a total loss, while four others suffered smoke and water damage.
One Tulsa firefighter suffered minor burns to his hands and arms and was transported to a local hospital. None of the apartment residents were injured.
Crews say fighting the fire was a bit more difficult because of the way the apartment complex is structured.
Red Cross was called to assist those affected by the fire.
