TULSA, Oklahoma -- Blizzard conditions continue to be reported across all of northeastern Oklahoma Tuesday morning.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says blowing snow is continuing to cause visibility problems on highways and interstates.

Drivers are urged to avoid travel during this storm.

Roadways are snow packed and slick statewide and the Tulsa area is reporting poor visibility conditions.

ODOT crews are out treating roadways, but travel remains extremely hazardous at this time.

Statewide there are 115 crews and 430 trucks available with more than 69,000 tons of salt and sand/salt mix; 63,000 tons of sand and more than 121 tons of magnesium chloride in 110 sheds.

If travel is unavoidable during snow and/or ice conditions, ODOT says motorists are asked to:

  • Check road conditions before getting out on the roads.
  • Stay at least 200 feet behind road-clearing equipment; crews need room to maneuver and can engage plowing or spreading materials without notice.

The City of Tulsa says it still has 78 percent of the salt with which it began the season in November.

Right now, Tulsa has 7,570 tons of salt remaining in the city's two street maintenance yards.
