OKLAHOMA CITY -- Incoming Oklahoma Congressman James Lankford says he doesn't plan to rent an apartment in Washington when he takes office next month.
Lankford told The Oklahoman newspaper that, instead, he'll sleep in his office to save his family money.
An efficiency apartment near enough to Capitol Hill for a commute can cost more than $1,000 a month, and many rent for much more than that.
Lankford, a former Baptist youth camp director, said family finances are already stretched from his yearlong campaign to win the congressional seat. He said his office will be his bedroom at least until he can get back on his feet financially.
