SALINA, Kansas. (AP) -- A 21-year-old man has died after jumping in front of a minivan near an exit on Interstate 135 near Salina.

An Oklahoma couple was driving home from vacation early Tuesday when Elijah Taylor of Solomon ran from a ditch and onto the highway. Driver Gary Conti, of Tulsa, says he was going 65 mph when the man jumped onto the highway, waving his arms. Conti says he tried to move to the other lane, but the man appeared to leap toward his vehicle.

KSNW-TV reports that police found a small amount of a legal substance on Taylor called "Blue Magic Bath Salts," which some people use to get high. Investigators are looking into whether that contributed to his actions.

Conti's wife was hit with broken glass but not seriously injured.
