HENRYETTA, Oklahoma -- "Rampant rumors" are impairing the investigation into the shooting death of 13-year-old Henryetta resident Landon Jewell, according to a release by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
OSBI agents have spent the week in Henryetta investigating the teen's death. Jewell was shot Friday night at the home of a friend in the 100 block of West Cummings.

OSBI agents said that because so many rumors are going around in the case, they are asking that people with valid, verifiable information call their hotline at 1-800-522-8017.
"Agents are running leads to determine what led up to the discharging of the weapon," Public Information Director Jessica Brown said in a news release Thursday.
The medical examiner's office ruled the death a homicide, defined as the killing of one person by another, the release states.
Landon Jewell's funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Henryetta High School gymnasium.
