TULSA, Oklahoma -- A seatbelt was credited for saving the life of a man whose pickup flipped after leaving the roadway on the 46th Street North entrance ramp to U.S. Highway 169 at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
Officer Vernon McNeal with the Tulsa Police Department said the male driver of a Chevrolet pickup lost control on the ramp as he was getting on northbound Highway 169. The truck went off the roadway to the left, flipped and rolled several times before landing on its wheels.
The tailgate broke loose, the driver's side rear wheel broke off, and the top of the vehicle was crushed.
"It appears that he did have a seatbelt on, and that's probably what saved his life," McNeal said at the scene.
EMSA took the driver to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
