TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa County sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who beat up an elderly Berryhill convenience store clerk during a robbery early Thursday morning.
Deputies got a call about a strong armed robbery at the Easy Mart on West 41st Street at 4:20 a.m.
When they arrived at the store, they found the 72-year-old clerk badly beaten. He was rushed to a Tulsa hospital by EMSA in fair condition.
The clerk has since been released from the hospital.
Deputy Shannon Clark says the suspect entered the store, slammed the clerk against a soda machine then proceeded to strike him multiple times on the head and body.
The suspect, who was described as a white male wearing a bandana and hooded sweatshirt, fled the store in a pickup truck.
A short time later, a Tulsa County Sheriff's deputy saw the pickup truck and gave chase. The truck ran off Skyline Drive in the 8500 of West 51st Street.
The suspect ran off before the deputy could arrive on scene.
In the truck, deputies found some of the money taken in the robbery along with clothing worn by the robber.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 596-COPS.
