Motorcyclist Dies After Head-On Collision With Delaware County Sheriff Patrol Car

DELAWARE COUNTY, OKLAHOMA – A Claremore man died Friday afternoon after crashing his motorcycle into a Delaware County Sheriff's patrol car.

The crash happened on State Highway 28 and County Road 550 near Jay.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Jeffrey Drake, 25, was eastbound on State Highway 28 when he crossed the center line and struck the deputy's car.

OHP said Drake, who was ejected, died at the scene. Troopers said he was wearing a helmet.

The deputy, 75-year-old Richard Kauffman, was not injured.
