BROKEN ARROW, OKLAHOMA -- A state audit of the Broken Arrow Public School district will not be released.
Citing a letter from the Oklahoma Attorney General's office, State Auditor and Inspector Steve Burrage says the audit is exempt from the state's Open Records Act because he hasn't signed it.
The AG's opinion was contained in a letter from assistant AG David Kinney to the auditor's general counsel Michelle Day.
The audit was scheduled to be released earlier this month, but at the last minute Burrage decided it would not be released after questioning the audit's independence.

Meanwhile, Burrage is moving ahead with a second audit into Broken Arrow Public Schools.
This audit was requested by Attorney General Drew Edmondson to look into possible criminal misconduct.
A spokesperson for the auditor's office says two special auditors will begin working on that audit this week.
