WYANDOTTE, OKLAHOMA -- A funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at the Wyandotte High School gym for a 9-year-old student who died last Thursday after being injured in a playground equipment accident.
Alyssa Faye Avila was a student of Wyandotte Elementary School.
The funeral will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2010 with burial following the service in the Macedonia Cemetery in Missouri.
The state Medical Examiner's Office classified Avila's death as 'undetermined', saying there were not the clear signs of trauma one would expect with a fatal injury.
The Wyandotte Police Chief says that doesn't eliminate the possibility of a head injury.
Avila's death prompted schools across Oklahoma including one in Owasso to make their X-Waves off limits out of concern for student safety.
