TULSA, Oklahoma -- With the economy in the shape it's in, everyone's on the lookout for ways to save money. Improving gas mileage in our cars and becoming more energy efficient at home are easy ways save a few bucks.
Ever think you're just flushing money down the toilet? There's another possible money saver that can be put to use in the bathroom. It's called HydroRight.
"What's your toilet issue; you can solve it - flushing problems? Are you not comfortable on the stool? Are you using too much water?" asked Nick Eglinton.
That would be it – too much water. A co-worker picked up a new gizmo here to convert old toilets to dual flush. He said with all his kids, it's mind boggling how often the toilet gets flushed at his house.
"We just got these in and well; we're selling quite a few of them," Eglinton said.
It's a conversion kit for older toilets making them more efficient, dual flush toilets. The push button gives you two levels of flush.
"One for one, two for two," said Clint Hewitt. Hewitt is the Home Depot's plumbing expert. He says it's easy to install – with no tools.
Rick Wells, The News On 6: "That's what's amazing to me it just fits down over that…thing."
Clint Hewitt, Home Depot: "Yeah, you just leave the flush valve in there."
He made a couple of other easy connections, and it was done.
Clint Hewitt: "Ready to go; nothing to it."
Rick Wells: "This is so easy; it's stupid."
There's no flapper to leak or chain to get tangled. The company claims a family of four can save up to $100 a year. Not a lot, but a way to save some money and use less water.
