TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA -- The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide just north of Tahlequah Tuesday morning.

Undersheriff Jason Chennault says two friends were arguing at a trailer home in the Grandview area, when one pulled a gun and shot the other.

Deputies say the argument was possibly over drugs.

The victim has been identified as 30-year-old John Hall. Deputies say the suspected shooter is Kent Allen Johnson.

Deputies say Johnson took the victim to Tahlequah city hospital where he died.

Johnson was arrested and booked into the Cherokee County Jail. He was arrested on a complaint of first-degree murder.

Johnson said the shooting was accidental, according to deputies.

"The shooter maintains it was an accident, but the witness says it wasn't. Right now, we don't believe it was an accident," said Undersheriff Jason Chennault, Cherokee County.

Deputies also arrested Randall Sanders. He is being held on a complaint of first-degree murder.
