Backhoe Accident Kills Park Hill Man

CHEROKEE COUNTY -- A Park Hill man was killed in a backhoe accident Friday evening in Cherokee County. Todd Eugene Owens, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene of massive head injuries, according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Owens was operating a backhoe on a private drive about 6 miles south and 2 miles east of Tahlequah, according to OHP. He tried to move a metal A-frame beam with the front end loader of the tractor, and the beam fell back striking him in the head.

The trooper's report states Owen was in apparently normal condition before the accident.
