GROVE, OK -- Oklahoma's record-breaking heat is forcing people, and animals, to find relief wherever they can.
A News On 6 viewer who lives in Grove posted a photo on NewsOn6.com showing a hawk taking advantage of her hospitality.
Sheran Donnell's photo shows a young Cooper's hawk taking a break in a water dish outside her home.
"It has been hanging around our 'bird habitat' area for a few weeks. The dish he is sitting in is for birds and small mammals to use for water," Donnell said. "When the temperature got to 103 degrees, the hawk sat in the dish for about 30 minutes cooling off."
Donnell said the hawk had taken a real bath in the same dish the day before, but only stayed about 10 minutes.
She said the hawk returned Wednesday morning for another bath, hanging out in the bowl for about 20 minutes.
Donnell posted the photo to NewsOn6.com by sending it to pics@newson6.net. You can see all the photos posted by NewsOn6.com users by visiting our share page.
