WAGONER, OK -- Summer break for students in Wagoner Public Schools has been extended by six days in order for the school district to save some money.
School officials say school was supposed to start on August 12th, but the first day of classes has been pushed back to August 20th, as a money-saving measure.
Superintendent Sonny Bates says the six extra days would also give the school district more time to repair heating and air conditioning units in two of its buildings before classes resume.
The Wagoner school board approved the schedule change this week.
Bates says the district's last day of school for the academic year will now be May 26th, with high school graduation on May 27th.
