Broken Arrow Police Officer Injured In Traffic Accident

BROKEN ARROW, OK -- Broken Arrow Police have released the name of the officer injured in a traffic accident Wednesday morning.

Ricky Barnett has been on the force for nearly 25 years, according to Major Carole Newell with the Broken Arrow Police Department.

The accident happened at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

"The officer was traveling north bound on Elm Place when he was struck by a driver who was attempting to make a left turn onto Oakland," Newell said.

The other driver has been identified as Warren Lentz, 62. 

Both Officer Barnett and Lentz were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Traffic on North Elm from Queens Street to Oakland was shut down for several hours while police investigated.
