Tulsa Police To Compete In SWAT Championships Next Week

Tulsa Police Department's Special Operations Team will compete next week in the 2010 U.S. SWAT Championships that will be held here in Tulsa. The competition is free to the public.

TULSA, OK --Tulsa Police Department's Special Operations Team will compete next week in the 2010 U.S. SWAT Championships held here in Tulsa. The competition is free and open to the public June 21, 22, and 24-26 at the United States Shooting Academy, 6500 E. 66th Street North.

"TPD members have been training for the event and hope to shock the competition in their first appearance at the U.S. SWAT Championships," said Captain Ryan Perkins, media relations.

"The public is welcome to attend at no cost and cheer on the Tulsa Police Team," he said.

Returning to the competition is TPD Officer Adam Ashley, the 2010 Oklahoma SWAT Games Sniper Champion. Tulsa will enter two teams in the sniper competition and one team in the tactical team competition.

Tulsa teams will compete against a field of 40 sniper teams and 26 tactical teams from all over the world. Competitors will include teams Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Canada, and all over the United States.

Eye and ear protection are required and are available for purchase from USSA at the event.
