OWASSO, OK -- Family and friends surprised Bob Williams, a WWII veteran, in Owasso Monday night.
For his birthday, The Experimental Aircraft Association recognized Williams, 94, not only for his contributions over the past three decades, but his service during the war as well.
He flew nearly sixty missions in a B-26 and received more than thirty medals and ribbons, including the Purple Heart.
"I wanted to be around airplanes after I got back," said Williams. "I went to Spartan and got and A & E they called it then for mechanic, you know. And, then after I got that I've been hanging around these guys to be around airplanes."
Williams says he has been fortunate. At 94-years-old, he doesn't take any prescriptions and can still get around.
