STILLWATER, OK -- A record number of people gathered Saturday for the 4th annual "Remember the Ten" Run, despite the threat of poor weather.
"We had 1,400 runners, a little bit over that, which is by far a record," said Kerry Don Alexander, who founded the Remember the Ten Run. "The rain held off, and it looks like it's been a great day for everybody."
On January 27, 2001, a plane carrying members of the Oklahoma State University basketball family crashed in Colorado. The run is in remembrance of the 10 men who died.
The families of the 10 men who died were also present Saturday, and Alexander said that remains the most pleasing aspect of the day.
"The big thing is we're bringing the families of the 10 men we lost, and those families coming back and their friends are what mean the most," Alexander said.
All of the proceeds from the Remember the Ten Run are donated to OSU counseling services, with more than $60,000 donated in the past three years.
