IRVING, TEXAS -- Texas Stadium is nothing but a memory now.
On Sunday morning, Tulsa's Dykon Explosive Demolition Corporation was in charge of blowing up Texas Stadium, the historic home to the Dallas Cowboys.
It took six months of planning, but only seconds for more than 2,000 pounds of explosives to turn the concrete and steel stadium into a twisted mess -- marking the end of an era.
The company's owner says it took very precise timing to bring it down.
"I've done bigger structures, but this is probably the most complex," said Jim Redyke of Dykon Explosive Demotion Corporation.
The implosion was detonated by an 11-year-old boy who won an essay contest.
Cleanup is expected to take until July.
