ROGERS COUNTY, OK -- The Rogers County Sheriff's Office has arrested a deputy sheriff in connection to pawning property owned by the Sheriff's Department.
Sergeant Eric Schader, 43, was arrested after an investigation revealed that Schader pawned property which was owned by the Rogers County Sheriff's Office in late July of 2009, according to Sheriff Scott Walton.
"This is a really sad day for the Sheriff's Office," Sheriff Walton said. "Nobody likes having to undertake a duty to investigate one of our own but it's a part of the job that, when we're called upon to do it, we're going to do it and we're going to do it the best we can in order to uphold the integrity of this department and provide the people of Rogers County with the best law enforcement services possible.
"It's sad to learn that one of our own has betrayed the department, the oath and the profession, and there's simply no tolerance for that," he said.
Schader had been with the department since 2006 and was assigned to the patrol division. Schader's employment with the Rogers County Sheriff's Office ended Wednesday as well.
Schader was booked into the Rogers County Jail on charges of False Declaration of Ownership.
