TULSA, OK -- A group of Tulsa students marched on Washington to push for changes to immigration laws.
The Tulsa Community College students said the country's immigration system is broken, and they want lawmakers to pass the Dream Act, which they said would make it easier for immigrants to go to college.
While in Washington, D.C. the students met with several of Oklahoma's representatives.
"Whether they agreed with us or not, it was a great impact in that room to have about a delegation of 18 students from Texas and Oklahoma in that room. It was a very powerful experience," said Casey Hugart, TCC Hispanic Assoc Vice President
The students said the Dream Act would help immigrants gain citizenship, but they said it's not a free ride because there are a number of things an individual must to do first.
The students also said, in order to qualify under the Dream Act, an immigrant cannot have a criminal record.
