TULSA, OK -- Tulsa police made 10 DUI arrests and eight public intoxication arrests on Saint Patrick's Day this year. Officers focused on DUI enforcement, under-aged drinking and traffic violators in entertainment districts of Tulsa.
"The goal of the enforcement effort was to provide a safe environment for the citizens of the city and patrons of establishments," according to Sergeant Ron Kawano of the Tulsa Police Department.
Extra officers from traffic enforcement, motorcycle units and reserve units were called in for the night. They focused on the areas where businesses had received special event permits for Saint Patrick's Day block parties.
Officers also served eleven misdemeanor warrants, two felony warrants and discovered one mobile methamphetamine lab.
Last year's Saint Patrick's Day DUI enforcement resulted in three arrests before midnight of the 17th and 20 arrests after midnight on the 18th of March.
