TULSA, OK -- Some kids are spending their spring break in basic training, at babysitter boot camp.
The Tulsa Red Cross is teaching 11- to 15-year-olds the skills they need to become successful babysitters. The kids work with mannequin babies to learn proper holding and feeding techniques as well as how to change a diaper.
They also learn basic first aid and CPR.
"It's perfect if you've got kids staying home by themselves this summer and maybe it's their first year to do so, or maybe they want to start a babysitting business," said Devon Chezem, Tulsa Red Cross.
"It's just nice so I know if I'm not doing anything right, they can show me what to do right," said Mackenzie Wright, a student.
The Red Cross is offering another two-day session on Thursday and Friday. At last check, there were a few spots left. The camp costs $75. For more information, call the Tulsa Red Cross at 831-1100.
