WASHINGTON, D.C. -- President Obama is reaching across party lines to find a solution for health care reform.
U.S. Senator Tom Coburn (R) – Oklahoma says the President has contacted his staff to follow up about an amendment Senator Coburn discussed at a meeting with the President and other congressional leaders last week.
Read Senator Tom Coburn's letter to President Obama.
It would set up a program that uses undercover health care providers to act as patients to root out fraud.
Senator Coburn also sent a letter to the President outlining several other of his proposals on health care reform.
In his letter, Coburn says he's "concerned an all-or-nothing reconciliation strategy will give the American people nothing. Legislation that addresses the massive costs associated with fraud and defensive medicine, on the other hand, would give the American people the kind of targeted, common-sense reform they desire. Reducing the costs associated with fraud and defensive medicine would be significant step in the right direction toward lower costs and improved access."
