OKLAHOMA CITY -- State lawmakers vowing to fix the state Medical Examiner's office get a good look at what they're up against.
Members of the Oklahoma House Appropriations Committee toured the building earlier this week.
They saw cramped quarters, broken equipment and paperwork backlogs.
State Representative Randy Terrill calls some of the places in the ME's offices "atrocious."
"And then you look in the cooler and they're literally out of space. There are bodies stacked up on top of each other. Sometimes they are piled up in multiples. If that were your loved one you wouldn't want them at the bottom of that pile and I think they have the right to expect better and deserve better," said Randy Terrill.
Terrill wants Oklahoma to relocate the ME's office to a new building at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.
