TULSA---Those visiting the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless were treated to a Valentine's lunch courtesy of The Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, its members and the Schusterman family.
For six years the event has brought a little February cheer to the Day Center and those using its services, which are under increasing demand.
‘With the bad economy and an especially rough winter, an increasing number of Tulsans are relying on the Day Center to meet their basic needs,' said Sandra Lewis, the Day Center Executive Director, ‘with the help of the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, we are able to go beyond basic needs for the holiday and provide something extra special for our clients.'
‘I feel so blessed and honored to be able to do this,' said Lynn Schusterman, ‘to try and let people know that they are cared about and to try to make their life a little better.'
The event organizers were helped with donations of food and services from the Community Food Bank, QuikTrip, Coca Cola, Sysco and music provided by the choir from Kipps Preparatory School.
