MIDWEST CITY, OK—A Spencer woman was killed early Saturday morning as she tried to run for help. Her attacker is still at-large.

According to Midwest City police, a witness was driving north on Marshall Drive near East Douglas Drive at about 1 a.m. Saturday when she saw 26-year-old Nelly Ann Pelts struggling with a man on the west side of the roadway.

The witness stopped her car in the street, and Pelts apparently was trying to escape her attacker by running towards the witness. At that point, the suspect - described as a stocky, white male in his 40s with short light or gray hair, got into a tan or champagne colored "box type" older model four-door vehicle.

The suspect then ran over Pelts with his car and fled the area. The suspect car should have minor damage to the left front portion because it also hit the witness vehicle, police say.

Pelts was pronounced dead at the scene, and investigators are actively working the case.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Midwest City Police Department at 739-1306 or 739-1388.

This is Midwest City's second homicide this year.
