CLAREMORE, OK -- An Owasso man is in the Rogers County jail in Claremore after he was arrested Monday afternoon following the beating of an elderly woman east of Owasso.
The Rogers County Sheriff's Office arrested 56-year-old David Brubaker after his daughter reported seeing Brubaker hitting the 83-year-old woman, who was seated in a wheelchair.
Brubaker's daughter told deputies her father had punched the victim in the head with his hand and had slammed his knee into the back of the wheelchair.
When she attempted to intervene on behalf of the elderly victim, Brubaker allegedly assaulted her.
"We do have a witness because we have a victim who can't cooperate with us; she has no abilities to," said Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton.
The victim, who is Brubaker's mother-in-law, is believed to suffer from Alzheimer's disease.
She was taken to a hospital for treatment. Deputies say the woman is expected to survive the assault. Detectives and doctors are trying to determine if all her injuries or new or if some are signs of previous injury.
Brubaker is being held in jail without bond on counts of aggravated assault and battery and domestic assault and battery.
