TULSA---Today cancer survivor and professional off-road racer Joe Bacal returned to the scene of one of his greatest victories…beating Hodgkin's Lymphoma in Tulsa at Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Southwestern Medical Center.
‘It was the right place for me because they treat the whole person, there's a lot of different thing that I like that they offered,' said Joe, recently back from competing in the Baja 1000 off-road race, ‘it was the best move I ever did. I had surgeries, I had chemotherapy, I had radiation, I've sat in the chair, I know what it's like.'
Bacal spoke with people receiving cancer treatments, signed autographs and played racing games on a Wii system with patients eager to beat him while dealing with their own battles.
‘I got here Sunday night, just found out three weeks ago I've got lung cancer,' said Harvey Cathcart, ‘there's a lot of survivors out there so they give you a great inspiration to know that this can be beat.'
