CHERRYVALE, KS -- The closing of a Kansas National Guard armory in Cherryvale in Montgomery County is still on track for the end of next month.
The state's adjutant general told state Senate leaders in Topeka this week that the Cherryvale armory and 17 others across the state have to close because of budget constraints.
The state of Kansas has 56 armories right now.
Soldiers from the Kansas National Guard 226th Engineering Company stationed at the Cherryvale Armory will be moved to the Coffeyville Armory.
