TULSA, OK -- Tulsa firefighters rescue a pooch in peril Monday afternoon.

Latrisha Wieden says she took her eyes off Pepper for only a few minutes, but when she turned around, her dog was gone.

When she realized her dachshund disappeared down a storm drain, Latrisha called firefighters.

The rescue team used a camera to find Pepper, then dug her out and returned her to an ecstatic owner.

"I thought maybe someone had hit her. I just never imaged she would be so stuck down a little, bitty drain," said Latrisha Wieden, Pepper's owner.

"It was a dog and we were able to get it out, but those are the type of things we train for, if it had been a human being stuck," said District Chief Eddie Bell, Tulsa Fire Department.

Pepper was trapped for about three-and-a-half hours. She was muddy, but otherwise fine.
