TULSA, OK -- OSU-Tulsa will hold its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration on Friday, January 15. It kicks off with a student leadership forum for Tulsa area high school students.
The student forum, which takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in OSU-Tulsa's Conference Center, will be facilitated by Ahmad Daniels, an educational trainer in the areas of diversity, race relations and African-American history.
Tulsa's 23rd annual MLK Commemorative Parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 18. This year's theme is "Dream It, Plan It, Do It: Yes, We Can!"
Students from OSU-Tulsa's Partners in Education schools, Academy Central Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary and McLain High School, will join Pistol Pete and students, faculty and staff from all of the OSU System campuses to march in the parade.
The parade will form at Pine Street and Greenwood Ave, continuing through Tulsa's historic Greenwood District and the OSU-Tulsa campus and ending at Archer Street. An awards presentation will take place in the Main Hall Commons immediately following the parade.
The forum is sponsored by the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Society, Reciprocity Restaurant Group and OSU-Tulsa.
